Accepted.

Accepted…. I think?  I tried to be cautious with my excitement.  Decisions were supposed to be emailed out on Friday, and it was Tuesday.  I had seen several other people sharing their excitement in the SDN forums of their “A”s and the disappointment from those that got the dreaded delayed decision.  Why hadn’t I heard anything?  Crickets.  My online portal showed no changes.  Did I somehow slip through the cracks?  I had mixed feelings about my interviews.  It took everything I had not to email admissions and ask as politely as possible why I didn’t have a decision yet.

Then I checked my mailbox.  A letter from RIMSAP (more on that later).  The letter said something along the lines of “we have recommended you to school I wanted to get into based on our interview and it is our understanding that you will be hearing from school I wanted to get into soon regarding your acceptance.”

Wait… so does this mean I was accepted?  It was at that point I couldn’t contain myself and emailed the admissions people.  “So… I just got this letter…”  They responded almost immediately with a congratulatory email.  I was accepted.  ACCEPTED!!!!!

I’m 37.  I have three young children.  I am working as a nurse.  My MCAT and GPA were not amazing.  I got accepted against all odds.

And so my story begins….
